Business & Product Review ~ 100% Pure Cosmetics

**Update Summer 2014** Thank you to all who have pinned and re-pinned my post about 100% Pure Cosmetics, I’ve recently updated my website, with a new look and feel, I hope you enjoy. Leave me a comment and let me know what 100% pure products you love **

I have literally catapulted all my make-up, cleaning, beauty and household products to either relatives that don’t care about toxins, the recycling bin or to our Household Hazardous Waste Depot . My make-up might have been some of the hardest things to let go of…eye shadows, sparkling eye glitters, foundations, lipsticks, lip plumpers, liquid eye liner. I got rid of EVERYTHING.

What do I replace it with?
Well, I started by Google-ing companies that offered natural products, organic  or even some ‘mineral’ makeups, but after looking through their list of ingredients many still had toxic ingredients in them. Sure they claimed they were free of parabens but they would still have many other toxins in them. Taking the word of the company that the products they had for sale were natural or toxin free, that their product is good for you,  isn’t a good practice anymore.
If I found a product that I was interested in, I researched each of the ingredients online. I would find time after time they would have some sort of petroleum or other ingredient that caused cancer, deformations, allergic reactions or was carcinogenic when mixed with other  ingredients. Yes, even in some of the claimed ‘natural’ products (I’m not going to name specific companies because I’m not about that).

I was on the hunt for makeup, foundation, skin-care treatment, lipstick, everything beauty related and  I stumbled across 100% pure cosmetics.

I looked first at their eye makeup, nothing toxic all herbs and natural elements, then on to the lipsticks, again everything they sell is toxin free and good for me. Seriously. I was so happy and so excited to order from them!

I’ve tried out their PURITY HYDRATING TONIQUE for acne prone skin  (I use a cleanser from a different local company). I can feel this working after I apply it to my cleansed face. It feels and smells great. I’ve noticed my skin after using this (and cleanser) for two weeks is almost cleared up completely!

The moisturizer I use was a free gift with purchase, the ORGANIC ACAI BERRY ANTIOXIDANT FACIAL CREAM. This smells divine and makes my face feel like silk. The texture feels a bit waxy on your fingers but not after you put it on your face. Love. After about two weeks, I notice as the weather is getting colder I may need to find a moisturizer for dry skin, this one will work amazing in the summer for me.

I got some of  their powdered and cream/satin eyeshadow and I was so surprised at how amazing, thick and beautiful the shine/shimmer is on these. I like them. I was expecting something that was thin and sheer, but these glide and blend perfect. I find the cream/satin does crease nearing the end of the day, but regardless that is pretty good durability.

I love the  cream stick eyeshadow better than the liquid eyeliner (although they do have a cream pot liner that I need to try out). The liquid eyeliner is okay, but its very waxy. I still like it and was surprised at how well it ‘lines’ but will save it for once in a while use instead of everyday( it is perfect for the latest trend in 50’s eyeliner styles). The cream stick shadow I use everyday as a liner and love it, it glides on so lovely and shimmery.

100% Pure just got  their powder foundations back in stock and I have to say after just receiving mine in the mail,  love it! I’ve never used a powder foundation before. It isn’t full coverage, just medium but because my skin is so clear right now I don’t mind using the medium coverage. It feels silky when I use it on top of their luminous primer. I am waiting, as are many others for them to restock their liquid foundation and concealers.

I got the  lip glaze for lipstick, these feel, glide and look just like lipstick, only not toxic. I was super shocked. The lip glaze feels lovely and creamy. It just glides on and the packaging is sleek (more on the packaging to come).

I also got the mini fruit pigmented mascara. I don’t use mascara for work everyday, this is going to be great for the times I do use it. Goes on nice and not clumpy, an instant love. This is taken from their website  “100% natural mascara lengthens, separates, thickens and glosses lashes with fruit pigments and Black tea pigments. Lash conditioning ProVitamin B5, Vitamin E, Oat and Wheat protein conditions for healthier lashes. Gentle, all natural, good for you formula is suitable for everyone, even if you wear contacts or have sensitive eyes. Water and smudge resistant.”  You have to love that!

How long do the products last if they don’t have those toxic preservatives in them? Have a read on their FAQ page to answer that.

Some of their packaging for the cosmetics is made from recycled soda cans, the others are recycled products. The inks they use on their recycled packaging are soy based inks. You can read more in depth about their conscious effort to produce product that are responsible here. You can tell from the packaging alone that a lot of care and design went into them. They are pretty and the typography is lovely. Simply boutique and chic.

If you can’t tell that I’m in love with 100% pure, I suggest re-reading this blog posting. I feel great with my new ‘face’ of makeup and I love that its all good for me, anti-oxidizing, non-toxic and natural. Really and truly, I love them.

The next time I order some make-up from them, hopefully it will be when they release some more foundation and concealer,  I’ll have to see if I can’t get something for a blog giveaway!

Best,
Amanda

Hi Amanda! Love the post. Just thought that I would tell you what I use for a moisturizer. I have VERY dry skin anyway – add this dry Utah climate in and I am one dry girl! I use organic Coconut Oil on my skin as a moisturizer – one ingredient, natural, and that is all that I use. I do so year round. I keep a gallon bucket in my bathroom and put it on when I get out of the shower, and on y face under my makeup. I have been doing this for about five years now and it is the best thing that I have ever done. I used to pay around 35.00 for moisturizer that would last me six months just for my face, but my gallon has lasted me for the past 2 1/2 years and I still have about a third of it left. The gallon was around $90.00. Find a good brand that is organic and cold pressed if possible. You can’t go wrong!!!

      @Kimberly

      Thanks Kim!
I’m not sure how that will help my acne, it may be too much oil for my skin. I still get little breakouts once a month, but they’re not nearly as bad as they used to be and the rest of my face has cleared right up!
I’m working on some more posts coming up of my review from the redmond basket, love pretty much all of it! ;o) Hope you are well

I don’t know about the acne. A little goes a long way on the oil though. For my face, I scrape just a bit with my fingernail, maybe a 16th of a teaspoon to use. The lauric acid in it may actually help. It is the only thing in nature that comes close to natural lauric acid in to breastmilk. Breastmilk just tops it…

I did the same thing last January after attending the Green Living Show in Toronto. I heard about all the toxins and poisons in my products. I went home and “cleaned house”. It was very hard to throw out all my makeup, skincare, etc….i was a makeup “hound” and bought stuff to get the free little things…Most was literally untouched. I LOVE 100% PURE….can’t say enough good things about this brand…..

I hear you loud and clear, it shouldn’t be hard to get rid of toxic things, our addiction to toxins is incredible!
Right now I’m working on a recipe for wax cloth to replace plastic wrap! Wish me luck ;o)
      Love 100% pure :o)
